Here at the NSSA, we offer a range of opportunities for our young sailors to get involved in. These opportunities are all aimed at allowing our young people to experience new challenges, expand their sailing experiences and develop into well-rounded individuals.

Long-Term Topper Loan Scheme

Each year (March - March) the NSSA loan out six Topper race rigged dinghies to young people who would not normally have the opportunity to have access to a boat all year round. Nominations are made by team managers and considered by the Executive Committee.

Coaching

Our sailing events are not just competitions, they are also an opportunity to learn. We aim to provide top-level coaches at as many of our events as possible. In particular, we always have some great coaches at our National Regatta, providing both on-the-water advice and evening onshore briefings. At the 2019 National Regatta, we were lucky enough to have an RYA coach Katie Tomsett with us for the week working with all levels of sailor that our event caters for.

President's Award

Each year, at the end of our National Regatta, we award several young people with the prestigious President's Award. This award recognises young people who have shown an outstanding contribution to the sport. The award is highly respected within youth sailing. Young people can be nominated for this event at the National Regatta.
